Lollapalooza 2026 returns to Grant Park in Chicago from July 30 through August 2, 2026, bringing more than 170 artists and 500,000+ attendees to downtown Chicago. Headliners include Lorde, Charli XCX, JENNIE, The Smashing Pumpkins, Tate McRae, and The xx, with performances spanning pop, indie rock, electronic, hip-hop, soul, and K-pop.
As Lollapalooza 2026 approaches, your planning starts now. We’ll help you cover festival tickets, the 2026 lineup, transportation, bag rules, packing tips, and where to stay near the festival grounds.
Before anything else, let’s get your schedule locked in.
From July 30, Thursday, to August 2, Sunday, Lollapalooza 2026 takes place between 11 am and 10 pm at Grant Park in downtown Chicago.
When Lollapalooza first settled in Grant Park in 2005, the festival started as a 2-day event, then became 3 days in 2006. In 2016, the production team added a 4th day, which makes Lollapalooza 2026 its 10th year as a 4-day festival.

Perry Farrell founded Lollapalooza in 1991 as a touring festival. Grant Park became Lollapalooza’s permanent home in 2005, when C3 Presents partnered with Farrell to transform the festival from a touring event to a destination one.
Grant Park is in the heart of Illinois, with views of the skyline and Lake Michigan. Compared to desert festivals like Coachella, which require driving out to the desert, Grant Park is an accessible urban venue, surrounded by restaurants, CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) access, and hotels.
Also, the park covers 319 acres, which is large enough to accommodate 8 stages, food plazas, and thousands of daily attendees without feeling dangerously overcrowded.
Lollapalooza showcases multiple genres, and this 2026, pop, indie, electronic, rock, soul, and K-pop all share Grant Park across 8 stages.
Here is the official headliner lineup for Lollapalooza 2026:

As of May 17, 2026, only the Sunday tickets are available for the GA tier, while only Thursday and Sunday tickets are available for Platinum. All the rest are sold out, including the 2-day GA tickets, but the waitlist is still ongoing on a first-come, first-served basis.
Lollapalooza also has group hospitality options, including Cabanas, Northside Suites, Suites at Perry’s, and the Speakeasy Lounge. Each allows your group access to VIP amenities, bars, and all-day dining.
4-day festival passes offer better value if you’re planning to attend all 4 days of Lollapalooza. For example, 4 single-day tickets would total $740, but a 4-day pass is just $439.
However, 1-day tickets are best if you are after a specific headliner or need to work around a tight schedule. Planning to join the waitlist? Prioritize weekday dates. Thursday and Friday tend to open up more frequently than weekend slots as buyers consolidate their schedules.
But if Lollapalooza sells out entirely, we recommend considering the Breakaway Music Festival, which tours 13 US cities through the rest of 2026 with tickets still available. You can also check out other festivals coming up this season, including Electric Forest (June 25-28), so you don’t miss out on what's still ahead this summer.
Grant Park sits in the center of downtown Chicago, which makes it easily accessible via CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) trains, buses, rideshare zones, and parking garages.
Let’s cover all transportation options for getting to Grant Park.
Public transit is the easiest and most stress-free way to go to Lollapalooza. Several CTA and Metra lines stop within walking distance of Grant Park, and the trains run frequently. Your public transit options include:
CTA Lines: Jackson Station on the Red and Blue Lines is the closest major stop to Grant Park, just about a 5-minute walk away.
Metra Trains: Metra commuter rail connects suburban riders directly to the Loop, which is suitable if you’re coming from outside the city.
Loop Buses: Take loop bus routes along Michigan Avenue and Columbus Drive. They are useful if you're staying close by.
Note: Load your Ventra card in advance. Station kiosks get backed up during peak festival hours, and running out of credit at the gate is a common and avoidable problem.
You can drive to Grant Park, but expect heavy traffic and road closures during festival days. Most attendees use the Millennium Garages, which are directly beneath the park and contain 1,350 parking spots.
Keep the following tips in mind if you’re driving to Grant Park:
Book Millennium Garage parking in advance. Spots fill up quickly on festival days, and advance reservations are available through the official parking portal.
Street closures around Columbus Drive and Michigan Avenue go into effect during festival hours, so plan your route accordingly before your trip.
Rideshare drop-off zones are designated away from the main entrances. Your app will direct you to the nearest active zone, but make sure you have extra time since rideshare congestion around downtown Chicago gets heavy by early afternoon.
Rideshare works best for early-morning arrivals before crowds build, or for groups splitting the fare. Surge pricing kicks in by early afternoon and becomes most aggressive after 8 pm when headliner sets are running. Expect $30-$50+ fares during peak windows, and allow an extra 20-45 minutes for pickup delays around Columbus Drive and Michigan Avenue.
For cyclists, Lollapalooza offers free and staffed bike valets near the festival perimeter.
Once street closures go into effect around Grant Park, walking beats driving. If you’re staying anywhere in the Loop or South Loop, walking to the festival entrances typically takes under 15 minutes (walking is often faster than driving).
The two best areas to stay are the Loop and the South Loop, both within walking distance of the festival entrances. Staying nearby means you won’t worry about late-night transit and long rideshare waits.
These are the most recommended hotels near Grant Park:
Hilton Chicago: Located on Michigan Avenue, roughly a 10-minute walk from the main Grant Park entrances.
Marriott Marquis Chicago: Sits in the South Loop with direct access to the festival perimeter and solid amenities for a multi-night stay.
The Blackstone Hotel: A historic Chicago property on Michigan Avenue. The Blackstone Hotel is within easy walking access to the grounds and has a strong reputation among festival regulars.
Our tip is to book as early as possible. Hotels in the Loop and South Loop sell out two to three months before Lollapalooza starts, and rates climb as the festival dates near.
Already secured your ticket? Hotel booking should be your next immediate step.
Every attendee passes through airport-style security screening before entering the Lollapalooza festival grounds at Grant Park.

Chicago in late July and early August is hot and humid, with daytime temperatures regularly climbing into the upper 80s and then dropping down to about 60°F at night. Packing smart ensures you’re comfortable for the full festival day.
Here’s what to bring to Lollapalooza:
Empty Reusable Water Bottles and Hydration Packs: Water refill stations are available inside the grounds, so fill up as often as you need to throughout the day.
Power Bank: Your phone will run out of battery at least once during an 11-hour festival day, between checking the maps, the Lolla app, and website, and taking photos and videos. A fully charged power bank ensures you can use your phone throughout the day.
Earplugs: Standing near the front of a stage for multiple sets can damage your hearing over time. A good pair of earplugs protects your hearing without killing the sound quality.
Comfortable Shoes: You will walk more than you think. Broken-in sneakers or supportive sandals beat fashion footwear by the end of day one.
Packable Poncho: Umbrellas are prohibited inside the festival grounds, so pack a lightweight poncho in case it rains.
Light Jacket or Layer: Temperatures drop noticeably after sunset, especially close to the lakefront. A packable festival faux fur jacket saves you later in the evening.
Clear Bag: Pack your essentials in a clear bag 12" x 6" x 12" or smaller, so plan your packing around that size limit.
Cash and Card: Most vendors accept cards, but having some cash on hand is convenient for merch lines or smaller food stalls.

Unfortunately, Lollapalooza does not have on-site camping. You can stay in nearby Loop hotels, vacation rentals, or suburban accommodations and commute in each day.
Lollapalooza is an all-ages festival. Children 8 and under enter free with a ticketed adult. Families also have access to Kidzapalooza, a dedicated area inside the grounds with activities for the younger crowd. Platinum areas require a separate Platinum Kids ticket for children ages 3-8.
Lollapalooza does not allow same-day re-entry after leaving the festival grounds. Since the festival runs from 11 am to 10 pm, bring everything you need for a full day inside Grant Park before entry.
Light rain does not stop the festival. Severe weather or lightning can temporarily pause performances, and updates get posted through the official Lollapalooza app. You can bring a packable poncho, as umbrellas are prohibited on the grounds.
Rentable lockers are available inside Grant Park near the main entrances. Most lockers include phone-charging ports, which come in handy on a long festival day. Reservations can be made in advance through the official festival website.
Lollapalooza rewards preparation, and that includes what you wear. Rhinestone bodysuits (form-fitting one-piece garments covered in small reflective stones), sequin sets, fringe tops, and festival jumpsuits are the top popular choices. Lightweight materials like mesh and cotton hold up better through Chicago’s August heat than heavier options.
Prepare your style with our crystal-adorned, feather-accented Lollapalooza outfits, featuring handcrafted designs from the Born in Stockholm team. Add extra shimmer to your look with our festival accessories, including crystal crowns, body harnesses, and face jewels.
Pack the look. Live the moment. We’ll see you at Grant Park!
